Did you know?
The legend behind our celebration of Valentine's day is that Emporer Claudius II outlawed marriage (feeling that men who were unmarried were better soldiers) but a priest named Valentine defied him and married young couples anyway. He was put to death, supposedly on 14th February and later canonised as a Saint. The story goes that before his death he left a letter to his jailor's daughter, signed 'from your Valentine' and started a tradition that endures today.
